Using wood products to mitigate climate change: a review of evidence and key issues for sustainable development

This report aims to improve understanding of the benefits of, and linkages between, the use of wood products to mitigate climate change and the capacity to deliver broader sustainable development. The report investigates the potential for carbon intensity labeling of products such as timber based construction and packaging materials, in order to provide tangible information on their actual climate change impact. It was prepared for the Nordic Timber Council (NTC), and is the product of collaboration between the Climate Change Programme, the Environmental Economics Programme and the Forestry and Land Use Programme at IIED, and the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Management (ECCM).
