Associate Director, Advisory Services

Thomson Reuters Point Carbon Advisory will add an associate director to the team of consultants and researchers advising clients on energy and carbon related issues. We welcome candidates with strong analytical skills, who have experience within energy space such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, clean tech or carbon markets. Point Carbon was acquired by Thomson Reuters in May 2010 to strengthen Thomson Reuters’ offerings to the wider commodities and energy sector through the combination of Point Carbon’s critical insight, market fundamentals and analytics, and Thomson Reuters’ leading news and trading services. Thomson Reuters Point Carbon (www.pointcarbon.com) offers an exciting and dynamic work place, and the successful candidate will have a key role in Thomson Reuters Point Carbon Advisory Services. Thomson Reuters Point Carbon Advisory provides clients with customized and in-depth research, analysis and advice on a wide range of low-carbon and energy issues (www.pointcarbon.com/advisory/). To add to our credit recently we won the 2011 Advisory Firm of the Year Award accredited by Energy Risk Magazine. The Advisory team is presently operated out of three locations, London, Washington DC and Oslo and due to our recent success are planning to expand the operations into rapidly developing economies across the BRIC countries. The team includes world leading experts within the energy and low carbon space with state of the art capabilities within the global carbon market,with largest in-house group of carbon market analysts in Europe. Job location will be in Oslo or London.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

– Business development and sale of consulting projects globally

– Management and execution of internal and external projects

– Development of cutting-edge analyses, frameworks and models for clients active in the global energy and carbon markets.* Minimum a Master degree or similar degree from a renowned university, for example in Economics, Technology Management, Business or Finance

Required skills:

– Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience within energy and low carbon markets (preferably with experience in renewables business advisory and transactions; experience within the wider energy industry including energy efficiency and cleantech is a plus)

– Analytical by nature and delivering work recognized by structure and high quality

– Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written

– Ability to use of Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point

– Proven team player with good interpersonal skills

– Self motivated and proactive with business sense

– Good time management and organizational skills

Desired skills:

– Additional language skills -specially Spanish/Portuguese is a plus

– Consulting experience

– Strong private sector and international network
