As a competent member of our team you will be advising different departments on issues concerning the use of market mechanisms – in particular programmes of activities (PoAs) and new market based approaches. You will also provide advisory and structural support for climate protection projects in all relevant countries and sectors – often also on site. In this regard, keeping an eye on the regulatory environment for project-based mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol and new market mechanisms will be a continuous part of the job. You will also incorporate your know-how and your ideas in the conceptual design and the piloting of new certification mechanisms. Furthermore, you will actively participate in developing concepts for innovative certification products – e.g. Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). In the process you will work in close coordination with colleagues in the KfW Carbon Fund and the regional departments responsible for financing. Another important aspect of this diverse job: competent representation of KfW in (inter)national climate policy discussions on CDM/JI and new market mechanisms. This involves preparing and concisely presenting technical topics for target audiences – for internal and external workshops and trainings as well as for the (expert) public.
Your profile: University studies in economics or natural science/technical fields. A PhD is advantageous. You have at least three years of experience as a CDM/JI specialist – e.g. in an UNFCCC body, an international organisation, a consulting firm, a Designated Operational Entity or the CDM/JI department of a financial institution or a company. You are well versed in analysis and enjoy delving into new topics – including those outside your area of expertise. In the process, you always focus on the essential aspects and understand how to present complex issues in a structured and easily understood manner – in German, English and ideally also French or another foreign language. If you are also a team player with intercultural competence and communication skills who enjoys frequent business trips, then we look forward to your application.
