The position is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate, or an individual looking to develop a career in climate change, to contribute significantly to the vital work of CDP in improving corporate reporting on climate change, forests and water.The PO will be based in CDP’s New York office and will work within the global CDP disclosure team. The PO will report to the Project Manager, CDP-NA, working on all disclosure related initiatives to ensure they are coordinated with broader CDP activities in the USA, Canada and globally.
The principal role will entail critical activities to support the CDP disclosure team and disclosing companies. Key areas of responsibility include: responding to incoming company queries; ensuring companies are able to use the online system and helping them understand what is being asked of them; online database management; and testing of CDP’s IT systems. There will be opportunities to work on other projects on a case-by-case basis.
Applicant must have a strong attention to detail, be efficient in project work and be highly organized. During key disclosure months, the PO should expect that he/she will manage high volumes of incoming enquiries for sustained periods of time, while maintaining upkeep of online databases.
• Responding to incoming enquiries by email and phone from companies related to the CDP questionnaires and online systems. • Assisting with other forms of support for disclosing companies, e.g. workshops and webinars • Database management • Data analysis • Assisting in testing CDP’s IT systems • Administrative support for the Project Manager • Administrative support for event organization and production • Direct engagement with companies during the key disclosure months to secure maximum participation
• A master’s degree in a relevant subject or undergraduate degree and two years relevant work experience • A passion for the environment and a desire to work proactively to combat climate change and promote corporate sustainability • An understanding of corporate sustainability and the business implications of climate change • General IT (e.g. Excel) and database fluency • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Professional telephone and email etiquette • An empathetic and persuasive personality • Ability to work in a team environment and independently • Excellent time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines under pressure • Portuguese or Spanish speaking desirable though not essential
