EcoAgriculture Partners is an international non-profit organization that works to facilitate sustainable food production, rural livelihoods, and environmental conservation globally. The organization does so by developing and promoting integrative approaches to rural landscape management, by engaging in regional and global policy processes, and by supporting the work of our diverse grassroots and international partners.  

EcoAgriculture seeks to hire a Project Manager to join our committed team in our Washington, D.C., headquarters as soon as possible. This position is offered as 70% time to full-time, as mutually agreeable by EcoAgriculture and the applicant. The position will require periodic international travel (approximately 10-15% time).

The Project Manager will:

  • Lead EcoAgriculture’s contribution to an international project focused on improving the conservation outcomes of agricultural production systems for major commodity crops including palm oil, soybeans, sugar cane, and coffee. As part of this role, the Project Manager will:
    • Implement a monitoring and evaluation system to evaluate project impacts on environmental, social, and economic outcomes;
    • Collaborate with project grantees and the project secretariat to refine metrics for sustainable commodity production;
    • Participate in international commodity roundtable meetings;
    • Implement and refine an online data management system for tracking and analyzing project impacts at multiple scales;
  • Contribute to scientific and technical analyses of market-related mechanisms to promote ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes, such as eco-certification and payments for ecosystem services for biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation and mitigation and watershed management;    
  • Collaborate with the entire EcoAgriculture team on additional projects related to the applicant’s areas of expertise;
  • Supervise program assistant and interns.

Required skills and experience:

  • Master’s of Science or Arts in a field of study related to agricultural economics, markets, or agribusiness development;
  • At least three years’ professional experience related to sustainable agriculture, rural development, or environmental conservation;
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills;
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail;
  • Experience and competence working in diverse teams;
  • Proactive, flexible and creative;
  • U.S. citizen, or legal resident of the United States with work permit.

Desirable:

  • At least two years’ project management experience;
  • Knowledge of agroecosystems and marketing systems in the tropics;
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Geographic Information Systems and spatial analysis;
    • Decision-support systems for environmental management;
    • Tropical biodiversity (in Latin America, Africa, or Southeast Asia);
    • Foreign language proficiency, especially in Spanish, Portuguese or Bahasa (Indonesia).

Salary and benefits:

  • $50,000-68,000/year (for full-time employment), depending upon experience;
  • Health and retirement benefits, insurance, 29 holiday and vacation days per year.
