Markit’s Environmental team supports the unique requirements of participants in emerging environmental markets. Our integrated environmental platform provides end-to-end management of environmental portfolios and full support for existing and emerging environmental programmes and markets.
The environmental group provides registry and auction services to the environmental markets. The registry provides secure, robust, transparent and automated services for the listing and management of carbon and other environmental assets (including water and biodiversity). Our independent auction platform provides an additional avenue of liquidity for our environmental clients.
The candidate will work in the environmental team at Markit reporting directly to the Global Head of Environmental. The position is to assist in carrying out our existing strategy for the growth of environmental assets and products; help define new asset or product growth and then lead and direct the implementation of some of these products. The candidate would also have commercial responsibility for achieving revenue targets.
The position will include a lot of interaction with both external and internal clients (i.e. technology, legal and operations team) in the development of and implementation of new products and asset classes.
Duties & accountabilities:
Understand and communicate the business drivers behind usage of Markit’s environmental products
Responsible for new product direction and positioning, define features, and set enhancement schedules
Draft and / or coordinate the creation of external and internal communications including working with marketing on product fact sheets/brochures
Draft responses for RFP’s and client proposals
Meet with clients to provide both product expertise and drive the sales process
Assist with setting the overall strategy of Markit’s environmental products and services
Education and experience
College Degree (Masters/MBA desirable); 7–10 years product development experience in environmental markets (carbon, water, biodiversity, renewable energy).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Previous experience in leading commercial discussions and negotiations on new products
None initially, but history of increasing management, product and/or project management responsibility is important
