For a project on business models for climate smart innovations in the agricultural sector, funded by KiC-Climate, we are looking for an ambitious post-doctoral fellow interested in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship in general and business models for climate smart innovations in particular.
In this project, we study the contribution of business model development to the implementation of climate smart innovation in the agricultural sector. Because the limited adoption of new technologies in the agricultural sector is caused by social or economic constraints, rather than technical constraints, we will focus on the social and economic drivers and barriers of climate smart technology adoption in the agricultural sector. Together with business partners and European research institutes, we contribute both to a) approaches to assess the economic and environmental potential of business models for climate smart innovations and b) the development of profitable business models for selected technologies in the agricultural sector.
The post-doctoral researcher is expected to design and perform the project together with the project leader and international partners. He/she will also be involved in the education program of the chair group, mainly in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation management. Finally, he/she is expected to contribute actively to the acquisition of new research grants, consultancy and research projects in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship and/or responsible innovation.
- Ambitious scientist and a team player, devoted to research and education.
- Ideally, PhD on business administration with a clear focus on sustainable entrepreneurship and/or innovation management.
- Interested in research in combination with hands-on consultancy and advice
- Preferably experience with business modelling in practice.
- Strong international research network or in the process of building one.
- Ability to acquire externally financed projects and like to work in an interdisciplinary context.
- Fluent in English
- Publications in international refereed scientific journals.

The Management Studies Group is an ambitious group within the Department of Social Sciences of Wageningen University. It is our mission to be leading in the field of chain and network science, with a special focus on innovation and internationalisation. Our research is focused around entrepreneurship, innovation and governance in the life sciences at large and the agrifood industry in particular. Central in our research is the quest for understanding and managing the inter-organisational innovation processes among both large multinational enterprises (MNEs) as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the rapidly changing international agrifood chains and networks. In this way the group aims to contribute to scientific progress, to societal debates, and to the reflective practice of agrifood professionals. It does so by synthesising theories from supply change and innovation management with transaction cost economics and network theory. More information about the Management Studies Group can be found on http://www.mst.wur.nl.
