Ducks Unlimited has exciting opportunities for professionals with GIS and natural resources expertise. DU has been using advanced GIS and remote sensing technologies since 1984 to manage the complex issues in wetland and waterfowl management, land-use planning, and environmental conservation. The GIS Intern position will be based in our National Headquarter in Memphis, Tennessee, and requires GIS experience with ESRI products and a background in natural resources/wildlife/wetlands.
DU has an immediate need for someone to work with a team of GIS professionals to update the National Wetlands Inventory within the Great Lakes. The successful GIS Intern should have experience with GIS data development, photo interpretation and preferably some experience with wetland classification. Other responsibilities may include: assisting with a variety of GIS projects using datasets throughout the United States, assembling metadata; supporting fundraising and conservation staff with mapping needs; and setup and maintenance of GIS systems.
The qualified applicant will be a self-motivated, conscientious individual who can work independently with minimal supervision, as well as communicate closely with Ducks Unlimited biologists and engineers. We are looking for a person with a background in natural resources and experience in GIS. Some experience with databases, wildlife management, ecology, and wetlands is preferred.
