The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) seeks to recruit two consultants.
1) International Consultant for the preparation of guidelines to assist forest managers to respond to climate change challenges and opportunities at the forest management unit level. These guidelines will be relevant globally, and apply to all types of forests (boreal, temperate, tropical), for all management objectives (production, conservation, protection and multipurpose) and by all types of managers (public, private and community). The Consultant should have an advanced university degree in forestry or a related subject and expertise in forest management and climate change including field experience in developing countries. 2) Consultant or institution to prepare a paper on the current understanding of climate change impacts on forests, current or potential adjustments by forest managers in forest planning and management to accommodate adaptation and mitigation actions and the related challenges which forest managers face. The main purpose of the paper would be to facilitate discussion for the preparation of an FAO guide to assist forest managers in responding to climate change at the forest management unit level.
