Energy Consultant – Carbon Trust

Location: London

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Energy Consultant will be responsible for a wide range of activities linked to helping customers become more energy efficient and reduce their environmental impact, including:

  • Provide remote and on-site technical advice to customers including the provision of sectorial insights, written technical site survey reports and oral presentations and briefings
  • The timely conduct of desk-top based Energy Saving Assessments for applications to the Energy Efficiency Financing Scheme
  • Review, evaluate and assess the technical merits of applications made to the Carbon Trust’s Supplier Accreditation Scheme
  • Liaise with customers to identify and specify cost-effective energy saving projects
  • Provide technical input to the development of customer invitation-to-tender (ITT) documentation for energy reduction projects to be tendered with Carbon Trust Accredited Suppliers
  • Support customers in their understanding and assessment of the relative technical merits of proposals received from Accredited Suppliers
  • Manage the deployment of consultants to deliver specialist energy reduction advice to customers within prescribed time frames and budget constraints
  • Assist in the technical due diligence of projects delivered by Accredited Suppliers to ensure quality assurance objectives are being adhered to
  • Assist with the development and operation of the Supplier Accreditation Scheme and support relationships with key stakeholder groups
  • Maintain knowledge based systems to analyse the efficiency and effectiveness of customer engagements and prepare routine and regular impact assessment reports
  • Give technical and general presentations to interested parties on the work of the Carbon Trust
  • Provide operational support to the Head of Technology as required

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess:

  • A primary degree (at least 2:1) or equivalent in a relevant energy, science or engineering discipline
  • Experience in an engineering consultancy or in-house engineering role
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. CIBSE, EI
  • Chartered engineer status (desirable but not essential)
  • A successful track record in the identification, specification and implementation of energy management projects
  • Excellent technical, project management, client management, presentation and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
