Driven by the borough’s Energy Strategy there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects ranging from improving corporate energy management to exploiting the borough’s opportunities for decentralised energy networks.
- Knowledge and experience of the planning framework combined with technical understanding of renewable energy technology is critical as the post requires the ability to review environmental assessments (e.g. BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes) and energy statements to deliver the environmental policies within the borough’s Core Strategy.
- Analytical skills and an ability to understand technical information is required to be successful in the role. This will need to be balanced by an ability to effectively communicate complex information and make recommendations in plain English for all types of audience.
- Keeping abreast of political, strategic and legislative drivers in relation to climate change mitigation and adaptation will be key to ensure the Council drives forward the agenda and delivers as a service provider and asset holder, as a planning authority and as a community leader,
