Local myclimate Expert (LOME) – myclimate


Foundation myclimate (myclimate), based in Zurich, Switzerland, is one of the world’s  leading providers of voluntary carbon offsetting measures to help organizations and  individuals reduce their environmental impact through supporting projects in developing  and least developed countries. myclimate sources, develops and manages projects that  reduce GHG emissions with a strong emphasis on sustainable benefits with Gold Standard  quality. In addition, myclimate continuously strives to create awareness for climate change  and climate protection with its climate education initiatives.
Due to an increasing proportion of our projects and partners being located in East Africa,  we are looking to recruit a highly motivated Local myclimate Expert (LOME), to be based  in Kampala or Nairobi, to facilitate and strengthen our local network in the African  
The project focus will be primarily on household technologies such as Improved Cooking  Stoves, Water Purification Technologies, Biogas and Solar Home Systems.  The LOME will be employed by a local host organization on behalf of myclimate.

Project Origination:  Strengthen and grow a network of project development professionals seeking to access  
climate finance
  • Identify suitable projects for the myclimate project pipeline
  • Conduct screenings and due diligence of projects
  • Facilitate new partnerships to expand scope of existing projects
Project Management and Development:  Manage the carbon project cycle up to successful verification of credits and oversee project  
operation and implementation
  • Quality assurance for baseline and monitoring studies
  • Completion of project documentation (PDDs, LSC Reports, GS Passports, etc.)
  • Managing relations with Designated Operational Entities (DOEs)
  • Ensuring validation and verification
  • Oversee the overall project operations and technology implementation
  • In addition the LOME will be expected to complete ad-hoc consultancies
Capacity Building  
  • Coaching project partners throughout the entire carbon cycle and maintaining  good partner relationships
  • Represent myclimate at regional conferences and events
  • Guidance of partners on every step of the carbon cycle up to issuance of credits
  • Conduct capacity building workshops
  • Degree in engineering, renewable energy, environmental sciences or related field
  • 2 to 5 years work experience related relevant fields, preferably carbon markets
  • Strong technical skills and experience in, or familiarity with the household level  RE/EE sectors
  • Interest in climate change policy and the carbon market
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage own work effectively and prioritise tasks
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel in the region
  • You are comfortable with working in a small structure and show flexibility when  new tasks and responsibilities arise.
