The Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short Lived Climate Pollutants, the Coalition, is the first global effort to treat short-lived climate pollutants as an urgent and collective challenge. Launched in February 2012, the Coalition is encouraging rapid reductions in black carbon (or soot), methane and many hydrofluorocarbons to protect human health and the environment now, and to slow the rate of climate change within the first half of this century.
The Coalition is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society, that are committed to accelerating and incentivizing action to address key short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). The Coalition has a membership of 80 Partners as of 18 February 2014 and 10 approved initiatives for rapid implementation UNEP is a Partner in the Coalition. UNEP also hosts the Secretariat and the Trust Fund of the Coalition in its Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) in Paris.

A consultant is needed to support the coordination of three initiatives, hereafter the initiatives, in
close coordination with the lead partners and the CCAC Secretariat. The three initiatives are:
1. Accelerating methane and black carbon reductions from oil and natural gas production
2. Promoting HFC alternatives technology and standards
3. Reducing black carbon emission reductions from heavy duty vehicles and engines
The consultant will contribute to the achievement of the initiatives’ goals and targets by providing
support in the following areas:
a) Supporting coordination with partners – Participate in each initiatives’ steering group meetings,
ensure delivery of any agreed work plans, and organise meetings and events in liaison with lead
partners and the CCAC Secretariat.
b) Supporting administration – Ensure that initiative activities and decisions are in line with the
decisions of the CCAC Working Group, that the initiatives’ are following the agreed plans, and
oversee the development of legal agreements.
c) Advice and monitoring – Provide quality control of the initiatives’ implementers including review
of technical documents and other technical work, and advise the lead partners on opportunities
for communications and outreach.
Qualifications & experience
The consultant should have a University degree, and at least three years in project coordination,
project management or a related field. He/she should have excellent written and spoken
communication skills, and the capacity to work with colleagues and partners working remotely as
well as in Paris.
